What is AdBlock Plus?

AdBlock Plus is a popular browser extension designed to block intrusive advertisements and improve the browsing experience for users. With millions of downloads across various web browsers, AdBlock Plus aims to enhance user privacy, reduce distractions, and improve page load times by selectively blocking ads on webpages.

AdBlock is something that I would use regularly, as I have it installed on all my devices, so I am quite familiar with it. It definitely functions well as an ad-blocker, and the user interface is extremely easy to follow and simple. I also like how there is an obvious brand prominent across the UI, and the designs make use of colour and text to heighten the brand.

Strengths of AdBlock Plus:

• Removes ads, pop-ups and banners from webpages without the need to alert the user, leading to a seamless and enjoyable browsing experience
• The extension is customisable, it allows the user to tailor their ad blocking preferences according to their specific needs and wants
• Very easy installation and set-up process, with a wizard
• Frequently updates in order to improve ad blocking effectiveness
• Non-profit ads can be chosen to be displayed regularly

Weaknesses of AdBlock Plus:

• I’ve always found that AdBlock slows down my browsing experience quite a bit, especially when streaming videos (and it is blocking video ads)
