We had an industry visit from both Synechron and Kainos on Tuesday, where we were able to talk to a few UX contacts about our projects and work. I found this day especially awarding, as I sadly wasn’t about to attend the Signifyed event this year as I was too ill. This visit allowed me to gain some great feedback from outside sources.

I had a great conversation with Michelle from Synechron, who I was surprised to see there as she is actually a family friend. We were able to talk about the app’s overall user flow, and the design of the UI. We also talked about the browser extension, and how the reporting system would work within that.

Here are the key points I took away from this visit:

• For the browser extension, what would happen once the user selects ‘report this website’?
  • Would the user be taken to an external site, ran by SafetyNet, where they would fill out an external form
• For onboarding, use visual images for specific social media, on how to set up privacy settings within social media apps
• Rewards system at the end of each lesson - user earns points which can be used and built up to earn coupons/discounts for shops and food e.g. complete a quiz, get 10 points, once you have 50 points you get a 10% discount at a shop

I can use this feedback to implement these new ideas to the product, as well as think further behind the process of the browser extension’s buttons.
